65. Attend 5 JMU events: speakers, concerts, art exhibits, etc. (2/5)

I saw Jimmy Carter speak at the convocation center on Monday evening.  Both Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter were here to receive the Mahatma Gandhi Global Nonviolence Award presented by the Mahatma Gandhi Center on the JMU campus.  I saw Desmond Tutu receive the award two years ago.

The Shenandoah Valley Children's Choir performed during the ceremony.  They were incredible!  I especially enjoyed their rendition of "Amazing Grace," Jimmy Carter's favorite hymn.  The other music during the ceremony was provided by Sarnia Mahbub Ahmad and Samrat Kakkeri.  They performed one of Mahatma Gandhi's favorite devotional songs. 

After receiving awards, Former President Carter presented a lecture entitled "The Path to Peace in the Middle East."  He reviewed the progress and setbacks that have been made in the Middle East.  I loved listening to him speak!  He was such a lively and engaging speaker.  I found him to be extremely likable and funny.  (I added this picture of him on screen because the lighting on the stage whited out his face in my pictures.)

61. Continuously have a puzzle out to work on.

We have finished two puzzles in the house so far this semester.  The first was my United States puzzle.  Each state was made from license plates.  It was pretty cool.  The second was a puzzle I picked up at Acadia National Park this summer.  The puzzle was made up of individual pictures from Acadia.  It was a beautiful puzzle!  We now have another puzzle laid out and waiting to be worked on.  It is a lighthouse puzzle that I also got in Maine this summer. 

87. Take the GRE.

I am officially registered to take the GRE.  Yuck!  Diana and I are taking it together at the end of October.  Hopefully, I will find some time to study for it before then!

5. Gangster (1/10); 13. Watch all the movies in AFI’s 100 Years 100 Movies list. (35/100)

I watched Bonnie and Clyde this morning and loved it.  I was captivated by the story.  I thought that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were wonderful together.  I enjoyed seeing them together and watching the relationship of Clyde and Bonnie progress.  I found them to be very enduring and wished they weren't criminals, but that was part of their charm.
