10. Romantic Comedy (10/10)

Complete!

I watched both Moonstruck (1987) and Annie Hall (1977) this week to finish up the Romantic Comedy category.  Moonstruck stars Cher and Nicolas Cage, which makes for an extremely bizarre pairing in my mind.  I'm not a fan.  Annie Hall is quirky, exactly what I would expect from a Woody Allen film.  I would have guessed that I would like Moonstruck better than Annie Hall.  I was clearly wrong.

I watched It Happened One Night and loved it!  I highly recommend it!

37. Learn to knit.
Complete!  I took a knitting class at a local yarn shop.  I haven't progressed to making anything fancy, but I believe I have mastered the basics.  I'm currently working on a scarf with some yarn that I love.

81. Donate blood three times. (2/3)
I gave blood through the American Red Cross at work again.  This time I got pretty woozy and had to lie down afterward, but I survived to donate another day.


98. Read another 20 books. (20/20)
Complete!  I recently read The Giver by Lois Lowry (loved it!), Juliet by Anne Fortier (also loved), and This Book Is Overdue! How Librarians and Cybrarians Can Save Us All by Marilyn Johnson (interesting to me, but probably not for everyone).

10. Romantic Comedy (7/10); 13. Watch all the movies in AFI’s 100 Years 100 Movies list. (43/100)

As Charlie Chaplin's last silent film, I've heard City Lights called his best work.  If it weren't for watching AFI's movie lists, I probably would have never sought out this film.  I'm glad I did though, because it was funny and charming.  There is an innocence about City Lights that more recent romantic comedies lack.  I found it refreshing.  I will certainly be more open to watching silent films in the future. 

10. Romantic Comedy (6/10)

I watched Adam's Rib yesterday. I had never heard of it before seeing it on AFI's 10 Top 10 list. It was interesting and funny. I definitely saw where more recent movies have the same storyline. I guess this is where it came from originally.

I can't say that posting has been my top priority the last few weeks. I've been incredibly busy with work, online classes, and my thesis. I have made time for some fun things from my list though. I have a lot to post about!

The Philadelphia Story, Harold and Maude

Ok, here it goes... The Philadelphia Story has Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and my fave James Stewart. It is a crazy romantic comedy with multiple love triangles and some deception. Definitely worth seeing at least once. I rented Psycho from the local public library. It wasn't what I expected. I wasn't scared because I kind of knew what to expect as far as the whole turning mom's skeleton around in the chair thing goes (thank you Dawson's Creek). Continuing with my Hitchcock theme, I watched Vertigo today and really liked the mystery of it. Although I did get a little confused for a while towards the end. I also thought it didn't have much of an ending. It just seemed to stop. Overall, I have become very fond of Hitchcock and look forward to watching some more (and not just because of James Stewart). The other movie I watched last week was Harold and Maude, which I also got from the library. I picked it up on a whim because it happened to be there and I knew I needed to watch it. Kind of a shock at first, but I found myself growing fond of the strange, eccentric, seemingly mismatched pair. The music was good too.

21. Read 10 other books. (5/10)
In the past few weeks, I've read the first two books in Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone alphabet series: A is for Alibi and B is for Burglar. I started reading them because I LOVE Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series and these books were a predecessor to them. Even though these first ones are a bit dated, I have enjoyed them. It took me a while to get into the first one because in my mind, I compared it to Janet Evanovich and was disappointed. Evanovich is hilarious and these don't really have that. They are solid mystery/detective stories.

74. Eat 1.5 cups of vegetables a day for the first month. 75. Then, eat 2 cups of vegetables a day for the second month. 76. Finally, eat 2.5 cups of vegetables a day. 77. Eat 1 cup of fruit a day for the first month. 78. Then, eat 1.5 cups of fruit a day for the second month. 79. Finally, eat 2 cups of fruit a day.
I am considering these complete. I started working on eating more fruits and vegetables a few months ago. I meet my recommended amount almost every day now, and that's as good as it's going to get.

71. Go for a walk with a different person every month.
Since I've been home, I've walked with my mom when she takes my dog for walks in the evening. I am not feeling very strict about this goal and will just try to go on walks with people when the opportunity arises.

84. Finish my Honors Thesis.
My proposal is now complete. Yay! I'm going up next week to get signatures. I have a lot of reading to do this summer.....

32. Attempt to compile a list of every movie I have ever seen.
So, attempt is the key word here because I have seen so many movies that I will never be able to remember them all. I saw an article the other day where someone claimed it is not possible to watch more than a 1000 movies in a lifetime. I totally disagree, as did many of the people who had commented on the article. That being said, I was inspired to start making my list. I've started with making a list of the movies I own, which I needed to do anyways so I would have an updated record of what I own. It's a lot.

Well, that seems like enough. There have been some little things I wanted to work on in my few minutes of spare time, but I can't because my computer is still broken and not in my possession. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon. I'm probably forgetting something, but that's the way it goes.
